Patricia Haley-Glass

Patricia Haley-Glass, is an award winning national bestselling author. She earned the title of “trailblazer” after achieving remarkable success with her debut faith-based novel in 1998. The self-published novel, Nobody’s Perfect, sold nearly 20,000 copies in an industry where selling 5,000 copies at the time was highly regarded. The novel was first of its kind to repeatedly make numerous national best sellers list, including #1 on the Essence list. Her next book, No Regrets, tackled the marital, personal, and financial impact breast cancer has on a family. It was popular among readers and followed Nobody’s Perfect onto the best seller’s list.

Originally from Rockford, IL, Patricia’s educational and professional journey has taken her to the San Francisco Bay, Philadelphia, and Detroit areas. She now calls the Chicagoland area home along with her husband, Jeffrey Glass and their precious daughter.

With both a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and a B.S. in Management, Science & Engineering degree from Stanford Univ. coupled with an M.B.A. that focused on finance and marketing from the Univ. of Chicago, readers are often surprised to hear that Patricia is writing novels, given her technical and business background.

When asked what led her to writing, her response is, “I was always good at creative writing in high school, but my interest was in math and science. My first attempt at writing was a non-fiction (self-help) book in 1994. Halfway through it. I set the book aside because a relationship storyline kept playing in my head. So I just sat down one day and wrote the first page. A few weeks later, another page and so on until nine months later I had completed my first novel, Nobody’s Perfect. I questioned whether it could be any good, because the writing came very easily. Everything flowed so well. Without consciously trying, I was basically writing what I wanted to read and wasn’t able to find in the stores — clean fiction (without the sex and profanity), set in modern day, addressing real issues, relatable characters, and filled with a spiritual twist that honors God and gives people hope that with faith they can succeed.

Everybody is bound to have challenges in their life. “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33 (NIV Holy Bible). “My writing is intended to remind people of the hope and peace that comes from personally knowing Christ Jesus. I understood that God had called and equipped me to write. However, I realized in 2007 that my writing wasn’t for the pure sake of becoming a career author. It was for the explicit purpose of encouraging others through motivational speaking and of course the messages in my books. That’s how I’ve been able to balance both a literary and a Corporate America business career. This journey has allowed me to discover that writing is my gift, finance and math is my passion, and encouraging others is my purpose. In case you’re wondering what’s the difference, gifts, talents, and passions are the tools you’re given to help fulfill your purpose. So, don’t worry about which one should come first one, use them all.”

Patricia’s literary mission is evident in her books: create entertaining, ‘clean’ stories that tackle real issues and affirms the power of forgiveness while leaving readers with a message of hope, no matter what the circumstance.

Her published titles include the Mitchell Family Drama Series (Anointed, Betrayed, Chosen, Broken, Destined, Humbled, and Unforgiving), Let Sleeping Dogs Lie Still Waters, No Regrets, Blind Faith, short stories in Blessed Assurance and the Midnight Clear anthologies, Redeemed Drama Series co-authored with Gracie Hill (Relentless and Redeemed-2015), and her trailblazing first novel, Nobody’s Perfect.

Beyond her literary endeavors, she is a born-again believer in Christ Jesus and has a great love for the Lord, her beloved husband, daughter, family, and membership in Delta Sigma Theta Public Service Sorority, Inc. since 1982. She is a charter member of Omicron Chi, the undergraduate chapter at Stanford University. She’s also honored to also be a charter member of Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates Alumnae Chapter. As a Delta, Patricia has served on numerous committees as well as in both appointed and elected positions including chaplain. Within the church, she has been in the gospel choir, on stewardship team, building committee, and served in various leadership roles including with greeters and relationship builders. In 2018, Patricia joined the board of directors with Profit Through Knowledge (PTK), a non-profit committed to improving and empowering individuals in at-risk communities. In addition to writing and living a fulfilling personal and spiritual life, Patricia maintains a full-time position in Corporate America as a senior program and operations manager. She provides leadership for analysts supporting North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia based actuarial and risk management related efforts. Despite a robust schedule, she finds time for her family and to partake of favorite hobbies such as watching movies, listening to jazz, playing word games, travelling for fun, creating photo memories, doing crafts, and watching sports (especially basketball). Her undeniable greatest time spent is hanging out, laughing, and enjoying life with her best friend and soulmate, Jeffrey.

As Patricia continues to work in various venues, her desire is that God will get the glory in all aspects of her life and that the purpose for which she was created will be fulfilled. Look for other works from this voice on the literary scene.
